What QIP accreditation means for you as a patient

A clean, modern treatment room at Endeavour Smiles Group

QIP — Quality Innovation Performance — is an independent accreditation body. For a dental practice, accreditation means an external assessor has audited the practice against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

It isn't a marketing badge you can buy. It's a periodic audit with evidence required.

What gets examined

  • Infection prevention and control, including sterilisation processes and record keeping
  • Clinical governance and how the practice manages risk
  • Patient records, consent processes and privacy
  • Staff training, credentialing and scope of practice
  • Incident reporting and how the practice responds when something goes wrong
  • Emergency preparedness and equipment maintenance

Why it's worth asking about

Dental accreditation is voluntary in Australia. A practice choosing to be audited, and passing, tells you something verifiable about how it operates behind the scenes — which is exactly the part of a practice a patient can never see for themselves.

Endeavour Smiles Group is QIP accredited and has operated from the same Endeavour Hills address since 2008.
